Investing in the Future of Energy Careers, Sky Climber Renewables at the Ohio Energy Project Event

Building the future of clean energy requires more than technology and infrastructure. It requires people, training, and meaningful career pathways for the next generation of workers. That is why Sky Climber Renewables (SCR) is proud to participate in the Ohio Energy Project’s 3rd Annual High School Energy Careers Event, a program designed to connect students with real opportunities across the energy industry.

The event brings together students, educators, and employers for a focused introduction to the many directions an energy career can take. For SCR, it is an opportunity to engage early with young people who are exploring their future and to help them understand that the renewable energy sector offers not only strong earning potential, but also purpose-driven work, technical skill development, and long-term career growth.

“Events like this give students a chance to see that the energy industry is not just a job option, it is a real career path. When they can connect training, safety, teamwork, and technical growth to actual roles in the field, the possibilities become much more tangible.”

Michele Ellis, Recruiting Supervisor, Sky Climber Renewables

Why This Event Matters

Workforce development is one of the most important challenges and opportunities facing the renewable energy industry today. As demand for energy infrastructure continues to grow, companies need skilled, safety-minded professionals who are prepared to enter the field and build successful careers. Programs like the Ohio Energy Project’s careers event help close that gap by exposing students to real employers, real roles, and real pathways forward.

For students, that means access to practical information about jobs, training requirements, work environments, and advancement potential. For the industry, it means creating stronger pipelines of talent and helping young people see where they can fit into an evolving energy economy.

How SCR Is Showing Students a Path into Renewables

At the event, SCR will introduce students to two practical entry points into the wind industry. Both are designed to help individuals build technical skills, gain real-world field experience, and move toward long-term careers in renewable energy.

Tech One Program, in collaboration with Vestas Americas

SCR’s Tech One Program creates a structured starting point for individuals entering the wind workforce.

  • Three weeks of intensive safety and technical training
  • Nine to twelve months of local, on-the-job experience on active wind projects
  • Hands-on exposure to the realities of field work in renewables
  • Clear development pathways toward long-term industry roles

Services Department Opportunities

In addition to early-career training pathways, students will learn about opportunities within SCR’s Services operations, where field teams support utility-scale wind assets through maintenance, inspection, and repair work.

  • Field-based work in maintenance, inspection, and repair
  • A strong safety culture supported by continuous training
  • Exposure to utility-scale wind operations and equipment
  • Career progression through experience, cross-training, and specialization

What Students Can Expect to Learn

Students who visit the SCR team will be able to ask practical questions about what it really takes to succeed in the field. Topics will include:

  • Training and certification pathways, including safety credentials
  • What day-to-day life looks like in entry-level and specialized wind roles
  • How career progression works over time
  • What employers look for in safety, attitude, professionalism, and teamwork

Supporting the Long-Term Strength of the Industry

Events like this are about more than awareness. They are about building a stronger foundation for the future workforce. When students can see a direct link between education, training, and a professional career, the industry becomes more accessible and more attainable.

For SCR, participating in this event reflects a broader commitment to workforce development, industry sustainability, and helping create a pipeline of capable professionals who are ready to contribute to the clean energy transition.
